About Us

OUR HISTORY

Community Child Care Center is a non-sectarian, early learning center opened in 1974 as an outreach mission of Richfield Lutheran Church. We are located in the church’s education wing at 60th and Nicollet on the border of south Minneapolis and Richfield. The program has grown over the years from a small preschool program to a center serving up to a hundred children from infants to 10 years old. Our center serves an ethnically and economically diverse population, and we pride ourselves on meeting the individual needs of children, including those with special needs. Our financial support comes from parent tuition, government child care subsidies, and donations and fundraisers.

OUR COMMUNITY

“Community” isn’t just part of our name, it’s fundamental to who we are. Beyond the family system, childcare is often the first experience in large group socialization; and we appreciate the challenges and adjustments that may bring. That’s why our staff takes a holistic approach to welcoming each child into our center.

Children have the opportunity to safely and confidently explore and expand their surroundings – whether on a neighborhood walk, a field trip to the MN Zoo or a visit from the local Fire Station. And families are invited to join in on family friendly activities and events throughout the year – be it a family fun night, the annual picnic or individual classroom events.
