Rainbow Room (K – 3rd Grade)

Rainbow roomWELCOME TO THE RAINBOW ROOM!

School Age Teaching Staff: Darnell D., Linda W., Deb G.

Wow! Isn’t it hard to believe your child is in school already? It’s true, they do grow up fast. We’re here to partner with you to help your child have the best possible experience at school and at home. We support your child’s education by providing encouragement and help with homework; but our biggest job is to help them develop the ability to make and keep friendships and to provide activities that they will enjoy as they grow into adulthood. We’ll encourage self direction and responsibility along with the opportunity to just lay back and have fun! Through games, art, active play and field trips we’ll work to bring out the best in your child.

Rainbow Room

On school days:

  • Please bring your child into the center and sign him/her in on the sign in sheets.
  • Breakfast is served around 8. Children also have the option of eating breakfast at school
  • Be sure to bring your child in 15 minutes or more before the bus is scheduled. If you bring your child too late to get on the bus, we cannot be responsible for getting your child to school.
  • If it is our fault that your child misses the bus, we will transport them in a cab or by car with your permission.
  • We cannot provide care for children who do not attend school on a school day. If a child is suspended, too ill to attend school or misses school for any other reason we will be unable to care for him/her at the center that day.
  • We’d appreciate a call if your child will not be on the bus or at child care. If we don’t know where your child is we’ll start our missing child procedure.

On school release days:

  • Often field trips are planned for out-of-school days. Keep your eyes open for posted permission forms.
  • Kids need time outdoors. Be sure to send them with clothes appropriate for the weather.
  • Children will be allowed to bring toys from home at their own risk. We will do our very best but we cannot be responsible for missing games brought to the center. Clearly mark games or hand held electronics and be sure the staff knows that they have them with them.

Discipline

We expect the children in the Rainbow Room to be appropriate, respectful and to be kind to staff and one another. If a child’s behavior threatens the safety of the other children or the staff we reserve the right to call the parent to pick up the child. Should it be necessary, a behavior plan will be written for the child. Repeated episodes of dangerous behavior will result in disenrollment from the center. Our main goal is to help children learn to express their feelings appropriately and learn to cooperate with others.

If you have any suggestions, questions or concerns please feel free to talk to any of the staff or call.
